Thoughts on Being Thankful

Standard

Greetings:

As our nation turns its attention to the Thanksgiving season, this week I want to offer a few helpful thoughts on being thankful!

Our call as believers is to live in a perpetual season of thanksgiving. We do so primarily from a point of obedience as we embrace the command of the Spirit “in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” How many believe that? How many take that to heart? How many receive that as a mandate from the Lord to be continually thankful not for everything but “in” it all?

Ours is a faith walk. The scripture teaches us that it is our way to “walk by faith and not by sight.” Walking by faith merely means we take God at His word and we do what He says by the help of His power. We need that power to carry out an exhortation such as this – to give Him thanks in everything.

Thanksgiving finds its basis in remembrance and understanding! Relative to the God of the Bible, when we remember who He is and all that He’s done for us, the appropriate response is thankfulness! And when we come to understand that it was Him, before, during and even after, Who was working it out for our good, we are indeed most thankful!

Until the next time, Stay On Target!

  1. I think we can only truly be thankful when we realize all we are and all we have are by the grace of God. When we truly grasp this, we can’t help but be thankful. Be blessed today and find a way to bless someone else!
